Scavengertime Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is intended to comply with the privacy requirements of both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and applies uniformly to all users of the Scavengertime mobile application on iOS and Android platforms, as well as to information collected through our website where this policy is linked.
1) Information We Collect
We collect only information that is reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, and improve the App.
A. Information You Provide Voluntarily
- Account Information: Username and email address
- User-Generated Content: Photos and short-form videos (five seconds or less) captured or uploaded in connection with Hunts or Quests
- Communications: In-app messages, captions, and user-submitted text
B. Automatically Collected Information
- Device and Technical Data: Device type, operating system, app version, and crash diagnostics
- Usage Data: Interactions with features, session duration, and performance metrics
C. Location Data
Scavengertime does not actively collect, store, or track precise geolocation data (GPS). Any location context is derived solely from user-submitted content and is not independently verified or stored as geolocation coordinates.
2) How We Use Information
We use information collected for legitimate business purposes, including to:
- Provide and operate App features, including Hunts, Quests, scoring, rankings, and recap videos
- Communicate with users regarding accounts, updates, or service-related notices
- Monitor, analyze, and improve App performance and functionality
- Enforce App rules, investigate misuse, and maintain user safety
- Comply with legal obligations
3) User Content, Sharing, and Host Controls
- Content created during Hunts must be captured in real time within the App.
- Content for Quests may be captured at any time and uploaded from a device gallery.
- User-generated content is private by default and is shared only when a user affirmatively elects to share it.
- Hosts and administrators may remove teams or participants for violations of App rules, unsafe behavior, or inappropriate content.
4) Data Retention
Scavengertime retains data only for as long as necessary to provide App functionality or comply with legal obligations.
Recap Video Retention Periods:
- Free users: Recap videos retained for up to one (1) day
- Tier 1 subscribers: Retained for up to seven (7) days
- Tier 2 (Premium) subscribers: Retained for up to thirty (30) days
After applicable retention periods, recap videos are permanently deleted and are not recoverable.
5) Children and Family Use
Scavengertime is designed for general audiences and may be used by children with parental or guardian supervision.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information beyond what is reasonably necessary to operate the App.
- Parents or legal guardians may request access to, correction of, or deletion of a child’s account or associated data.
6) Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect user information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No system is completely secure, and Scavengertime does not guarantee absolute security of data.
7) Third-Party Service Providers
Scavengertime may engage third-party vendors for services such as cloud hosting, analytics, and application delivery. These providers are contractually restricted from using personal data for purposes other than providing services to Scavengertime.
8) User Rights and Choices
Depending on applicable law, users may have the right to:
- Access, update, or correct account information
- Request deletion of their account and associated data
- Control content sharing and visibility settings
Deletion requests may be submitted through the App or via the account deletion page on our website.
9) Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated through the App or website. Continued use of the App following updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
